Why are people in Malaysia wasting time debating if race should be included in official forms? Does it make any difference?

Even if you exclude that from official form, do you think you can avoid the government or any agency dealing with your form from knowing what race you are?

When you fill Muhammad Ali bin Abu as your name, of course you are a Malay. When you fill Chong Ah Beng, of course you are a Chinese and when you fill Samivellu a/l Saravanan, of course you are an Indian! So why bother wasting time over that stupid subject?!?!?!
